First, assign the length of segment AD to be 1.  Since AC is half of AD, AC is equal to 1/2.  And, since AB is a third of AD, AB is 1/3, and BD 2/3.  The ratio of AC to BD is therefore (1/2)/(2/3), which is equal to 3/4 or .75.
