If you cube a prime number (7), then the only number that will go into the new number (343) evenly is the original number (7) and the square of that original (49).  That makes 2 positive integer divisors.  If you multiply 2 prime numbers (7 and 11), then the new number (77) is only evenly divisible by the 2 prime numbers (7 and 11).  That also makes 2 positive integer divisors.  2 = 2.  (C).
