Pg 567 (499) - Q18

You should solve this problem through elimination.  List multiples of 7 between 40 and 100:
 42, 49, 56, 63, 70, 77, 84, and 91.
Add 1 to each of these numbers so that when they are divided by 7, the remainder is 1:
 43, 50, 57, 64, 71, 78, 85, 92
Now subtract 2 from each of these numbers and see which of them are divisible by 3.  The only ones that satisfy this condition are 50, 71, and 92.  Each of them leaves a remainder of 2 when divided by 3.  Any one of these 3 numbers is a valid answer to this problem.
