If a stands for apples, and o stands for oranges, then:
  2a + 3o = 1.70
 There is no way of telling whether a or o is larger because there’s a number of different combinations of a and o that would allow the equation to hold true.  Imagine a really small a and a really large o, or vice versa.  The answer is therefore D.
