When you’re looking for consecutive integers whose sum is a certain value, divide that value by the number of consecutive integers you are looking for and that will tell you the middle integer.  In this case 18 ¸ 6 = 3, so the three consecutive years would be 5,6, and 7.  The least of these would be 5. D is the correct answer.
