Pg 287 (299) - Q24

Remember, if they ask you any questions regarding the lengths of the sides of a triangle, and they don't say anything about a right angle, they're asking if you know that the sum of any two sides of a triangle must be greater than the third side.  Well, in this case they say that a triangle has a base of 13 and that the other two sides are equal; it also says that they're integers.  So, the two sides,X+X, have to be greater than 13.  So they have to be greater than 6 1/2.  The first integer greater than 6 1/2 would be 7, and that would be your answer.  It would be the shortest possible length of a side.
