Pg 276 (288) - Q24

If X>-1, but < 0, what does that tell us?  What that tells us is that X is a negative fraction.  And that's the twist to this little problem, because you've got a negative fraction.  Well, any negative that you square is going to be positive; therefore, we can readily see that B and E are our two answer choices.  Now the twist to this is this.  Let's say for instance that X represents -1/2.  Well, if I cube -1/2, that takes me to -1/8.  -1/8>-1/2.  So X3 >than X; therefore, we have the answer B as the right answer, where X2 >X3, which is greater than X.
