This is one where you simply have to do what they tell you to do. You want to double the value of R. Our expression is S=3[pr2]. Double R in that equation. Therefore, you have S=3p(2r)2; hence, you have 3p4r2. So the difference between 3pr2 and 3p4r2 is the same as multiplying by 4.
