INDIVIDUAL SAT PREPARATORY PROGRAMS
Our individual programs fall into two categories. Our
on site program is described first. We have had students from Houston,
Oklahoma City, Memphis, Waco, Abilene, Ft. Worth, Maui, and Paris (Texas)
as well as Dallas take our programs. We will explain how we have modified
those programs to work with students off site via the Internet. The most
requested programs are our SAT/ACT & GRE improvement programs. We will
describe them in some detail and address other programs briefly.
ONSITE
Typically, students come in here in Dallas for three individual one
hour sessions where we take apart the SAT or GRE and explain to the students
the math and verbal skills they need to master in order to beat the test.
The analogy we make is that doing this is like teaching someone how to
hit a backhand in tennis. Once we show you how, you need to practice it.
That's just what they do, they get a book of actual
SATs or GREs and take the tests. Once they are finished, we go over each
test and try to amplify what they're doing right and modify what they're
doing wrong.
Of course, there is a large amount of individual instruction
regarding specific situations encountered on the tests. We also provide
extensive vocabulary work with vocabulary workshops and vocabulary words
presented on video.
OFF SITE
We have two ways of doing this off site. The same text and basic program
are utilized as we have explained earlier. We modify them accordingly.
One way is for the student to be able to make periodic visits here for
the individual classes and going over the tests. The other way is we use
videotapes of our sessions, the same text and test book, and answer questions
about the classes either by phone or email. In both cases test evaluation
and question answering is done via the phone, fax, and email.
OTHER PROGRAMS
