THE ONSITE SAT PROGRAM

Typically, students come into the office for three individual sessions. In these sessions, the students get a text and we take apart the SAT and show the students the strategies and verbal, math, and writing skills required to beat the test. These appointments are scheduled. Approximately one month from the SAT test date we will schedule a fourth session where we will address the essay and have the student write several. The analogy we usually make is that these sessions are like showing someone how to ride a bike. Once we have shown how it should be done, it takes practice to master the skill.

That's just what the students do; they come in as often as they can and take segments of the test . We are open seven days a week and they don't need appointments to take the tests so they can fit test sessions into their schedules conveniently. Once they take one, we score it and go over it with them , amplifying what they are doing right and modifying anything they are doing wrong. This way they learn to recognize the puzzles and questions the SAT presents to them. They develop the mental toughness and confidence to handle the tricky adversarial nature of the test. We will continuously try to help the student develop an ability to "self-monitor" better, by helping them see the types of questions and situations that present problems for them

Once we start working with a student, we work with them until they finish their SAT testing their senior year. Mastering the test is a different process for each student, which is why we prefer working with the students on an individual basis.

In light of this, there will be several times when we will schedule appointments where we will sit down with the student and dissect their test results as a whole. This is where we will help again with their "self-monitoring" skill. It is also here where we may point the students to supplemental interactive programs which can help students improve in specific areas.

We also provide extensive vocabulary work in vocabulary workshops and an emailed or text messaged Vocabulary Word of the Day. In addition, we work with students to prepare for the ACT and SAT II Subject Tests.
